EVOLVE launches 1st July 2018

Independence Matters is proud to announce the launch of a new work placement and development programme from 1st July.

Available through Norfolk Industries, EVOLVE supports individuals who have barriers to employment, including (but not limited to) disability, age, long term unemployment or living in a rural area.

The programme works by offering a range of training and development opportunities over a period of 8 to 12 weeks, alongside a work placement in Norfolk Industries’ own factory environment in Norwich.

It’s aimed at individuals who are actively seeking work, are keen to learn and want to take that next step to becoming more employable.

EVOLVE offers:

  • a work placement in a factory setting, carrying out lightweight packaging work for at least 8 hours per week
  • option to complete a range of development opportunities and training courses based on existing skills and abilities
  • travel training and development of life skills and/or work skills through the Gateway Assured Programme passport system
  • development of soft skills such as accepting instructions, team working, timekeeping and confidence building
  • a structure and feel for working in a commercial environment
  • a portfolio of achievements, including training certificates, to take away

EVOLVE is supported by Jobcentre Plus, who will be making customers aware of the scheme through their Work Coaches, and we’ll be working collaboratively with other organisations including Shaw Trust, MINT Norwich and Norfolk County Council (the programme includes access to their TITAN transport training) to actively support individuals in finding employment on completion of the programme.
